The Democrats feature a battle between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Hillary is in the lead, particularly when the superdelegates are added in, but Bernie is making ground. Both campaigns are now realizing the importance of that giant among states California. Even though we are at the end of the line in this political season, we are in a powerful place.
The California primary will be held on June 7th. (Our club will run two of the polling places in Camarillo.) The Democratic National Convention will be held a month later on July 25 - 28 in Philadelphia.
Do you want to be a delegate to the National Convention? If so, you have until April 13th to file with the California Democratic Party. Each congressional district has been assigned a certain number of delegates, divided between men and women. You will also have to state whether you are a Hillary or Bernie supporter. A vote will be held on May 1st to elect the delegates for Hillary and Bernie. Once the primary results are known in June, the final delegate assignments will be made.
