We are quickly approaching our club's biennial Candidates Luncheon and Garden Party, which will be held on Saturday, September 17th. This is a fundraiser for all down-ballot races ... from the United States Congress to the Camarillo City Council.
Our fundraising philosophy is a little different than similar functions by other clubs. We basically provide the food, refreshments, and fun, gratis, ... and the attendees directly donate to the candidates of their choosing.
We have an impressive list of candidates this year, many of whom are incumbents. They include Congresswoman Julia Brownley, State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson, and State Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin.
Also participating in the festivities will be Carla Castilla, running for the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, Third District, and Jameson Lingl, candidate for the Camarillo City Council.
Supervisor Kathy Long, who is stepping down after a 20-year career on the Board of Supervisors, will also be present. She has endorsed Carla to replace her, and has endorsed Jameson for the City Council.
I hope you all can make it to this huge event. It is one way we in the Democratic Club of Camarillo can ensure that Ventura County stays blue, through and through ...
