 | Hillary Clinton is our nominee for President of the United States. Her running mate is Tim Kaine of Virginia. Let the campaign begin! If we play our cards right, Hillary will win and become our first female President. We will belatedly join most other first-world countries, which long ago selected their first female leaders. But first, we need to vanquish Donald Trump, a man who seems to embody the worst aspects of our country. To succeed, we need to campaign hard using all the resources at our disposal including phone banking, canvassing, rallies, mailers, and donations. For the country's sake, we must succeed! |
We also have a number of other races that demand our attention. The California Democratic Party has endorsed Kamala Harris for the United States Senate, replacing Barbara Boxer. Her opponent is Loretta Sanchez, another Democrat.
Our club has endorsed four other candidates thus far. These include three incumbents: Julia Brownley for Congress, Hannah-Beth Jackson for State Senate, and Jacqui Irwin for State Assembly. We have also endorsed Carla Castilla for the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, Third District. Additional endorsements may be upcoming for the Camarillo City Council race.
So our work is cut out for us. Each of the candidates needs our active support, but probably none more so than Carla Castilla who is in an especially tight race.
The Club plans to issue a mailer with our slate of candidates in the autumn. Also mark your calendar for Saturday, September 17th, when we will hold a Candidates Luncheon and Garden Party at the home of the Ehrets. We anticipate that all of our endorsed candidates will be present for the event, and I am sure they will gratefully accept your individual donations.
With a lot of work and a little luck, we could have a clean sweep in November. Let's make it happen ...
