Re: Donna Poulson's Sept. 10 letter, "Iran deal."

Ms. Poulson was responding to Rep. Julia Brownley's Aug. 30 guest column, "Why I am supporting the Iran nuclear deal." It appears Ms. Poulson's strong objection against Rep. Brownley's support for the Iran deal was purely based on the words "Iran Deal" since the heavy propaganda and misinformation belies the good intent in the nuclear deal way before it was concluded.

Ms. Poulson suggesting Brownley was being disloyal reveals her party leanings. A freshman GOP senator sent a letter to the Iran ayatollah, signed by 47 Republican senators, saying: "Don't trust our president." The New York Post decried in headlines: "47 GOP senators are traitors."

In addition, the GOP House Speaker John Boehner invited Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel to speak before the Congress without consulting with President Obama regarding the Iran deal. That broke a long-standing protocol.

Ms. Poulson is correct in suggesting, "Now is the time to remain loyal to our own country."  Yes, and it's time for the Republicans to be respectful and loyal to our president and our nation by trying diplomacy over war as is the main intent of the Iran deal.

“God? What is that hair,” Carly Fiorina sarcastically says into an open mike she believes is off, as she disses Senator Barbara Boxer. “It’s sooo yesterday” Fiorina adds.

Just prior to Fiorina’s lippy remark, she had broken Reagan’s 11th Commandment. ‘Thou shalt not talk ill of a Republican.’ Fiorina complained about her fellow billionaire woman GOP candidate for Governor, Meg Whitman, who was going on Sean Hannity’s Fox show. “Sean Hannity is not an easy

interview. I think it’s a bad choice actually, you know how he is.” The word is the two GOP women don’t like each other.

Since Chatty Catty Carly wears a short, mannish hairstyle, you’d think she wouldn’t have uttered catty remarks. However, Fiorina’s comments are truly consistent with the current mean-spirited Republican, totally negative attack campaign tactics. Will Fiorina ever tell people what positive or future plans she’ll have for the voters? NO!
NIX! NEGATIVE! All you will hear and see is the backward Torquemada/Cheney/Bush/GOP joy of torture philosophy and thinking, going rearward into the future.

Fiorina graduated from Stanford with a degree in Medieval History and Philosophy, apparently making her vision today sooo yesterday. Lucrezia Borgia, the ruthless Machiavellian character, must have been an influence on the “married to the money mob” GOP brain under Fiorina’s hair. Conversely, the active progressive brain under Senator Barbara Boxer’s hair is sooo tomorrow. Thinking people realize we need to go forward into the 21st Century and not backwards into the OilOnly/Bush/Cheney historic failures for the United States.
Jobs will be the number one issue in our upcoming California election. At the same time we need visionary politicians who are not slaves to slogans, daily GOP talking points and corporate bribery. “Drill Baby Drill” needs to be replaced with a great “Man landing on the moon” push for sustainable energy. Senator Boxer has worked hard for California to go green for years now, an act that would bring many hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs to our state and nation. In spite of the BP oil blowout,

Republicans are sticking to being frozen in reverse gear and continue their big Oil/Money protection racket and gas guzzling policies.

Following is the most notable portion of Fiorina’s business record with Hewlett Packard that she would no doubt apply to California. From 1999 to 2005, she brought the value of the HP stock down 60%, cut workers salaries $130 million, while receiving $90 million for herself, then firing 33,000 American workers, causing most of those jobs to go to Communist China, India, and other countries. The HP Board of Directors forced Fiorina to resign. Fiorina will say it was the market that went down causing HP stock to plunge, but HP’s largest competitor, Dell’s stock went up 25% during the same period.

On the other hand, the strongly established Senator Boxer is the Chairwoman of the Committee on Environment and Public Works, (especially important to California and our nation) and Chairwoman on the Select Committee on Ethics, (sorely damaged under Republican rule) and a strong member of the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, including the Subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries and Coast Guard.

As a good lockstep Republican, Fiorina would be all for turning all control and regulations over to Big Oil, Big Banks, Big Wall Street, and Big Corporations because the corporate obscenely paid CEOs know best what’s good for the American people, and the corporations who are now “persons.” By the way, thanks to the privatized Supreme Court, those Corporate Persons can now put $millions or $billions into any special interest person like a Carly Fiorina they choose, for upcoming elections. Fortunately, there was a strong glimmer of hope in our California Primary when the $70 million or so and deceptive advertising that went into Proposition’s 16 and 17, from PG&E and Mercury Insurance, went down to defeat. The People spoke.
Picture
In a bold political reversal, Senator Boxer, has challenged the challenger, Fiorina, to debates. What? Why would the seasoned incumbent senator want to debate the wealthy unqualified millionaire to a debate with both their hairstyles on display?

Asked why she would want to debate, Boxer answered: “This is a choice between two people. One chose to live a life a certain way and the other chose a very different life.”
What does a ‘certain way of life’ mean? “I gave my life to public service,” Boxer said. “I’m proud of it. Some people think it’s great and some don’t—and they’ll make their decision. She chose to become a CEO, lay off 30,000 workers, ship jobs overseas, have two yachts, and do all those things. And take a $21 million severance. That’s her choice. She chose that life. That’s fine. But people have to decide which one of these two people is really going to fight for them. Understands them. And represents their values.”

It should be clear by now, Carly Fiorina—who had no science or electronic background and with no forward-looking vision for Hewlett Packard—is simply a cut-and-slash corporate raider, with no qualifications to help Californians guide the state into the future. Fiorina has the same “no government” qualifications as did Arnold Schwarzenegger. Like Arnie, Carly would cut taxes for the very wealthy only and take care of special interests.

How could Fiorina possibly compare to Senator Barbara Boxer, an experienced and savvy servant of the people for California, who can help clean up the Republican mess? The choice is yours. A greedy, chatty catty Carly CEO with megabucks, or Senator Boxer, who represents progress, with a successful vision for California? As some say, to be fair and balanced, we’ll let you decide.
